Cherry Tree Early Learning Centre

Thoughtfully Sharing, Lovingly Caring

Cherry Tree is a licensed facility operated year round by trained and licensed Early Childhood Educators.
Your child's welfare, imagination and marvellous fun are what we are all about.

Our Centre

From educational toys and learning stations to child sized furniture and washroom fixtures, Cherry Tree was specifically designed and built for your child's early years, soft cork floors and bright open spaces offer a welcome nurturing environment. Owner and qualified educator Enma Guevara speaks both Spanish and English to the insatiably curious 30 month to 5 year olds. The children explore nature to numbers, adoption to intercultural awareness, through both creative play and a preschool curriculum. There are daily story times, daily outdoor nature walks and monthly puppet shows, plus special visits from workers in the community. We have a small group size of eight children and are located mere minutes away from Elementary Schools.
Cherry Tree is a T.V. free zone.
Hours: 7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday-Friday

Who We are

Enma G Alfaro (ECCE)
Becoming and Early Childhood Educator and opening a centre is a dream that began for me years ago when I was still in Peru ; I worked as a nanny and knew that providing children the love and education that would open doors of opportunity was the true calling of my heart. Each child has been created so special and unique, and I am so privileged to be entrusted to aiding their parents to see them flourish. The work of children is Play.. believe me, we are very busy at this serious task in Cherry Tree. Our wonderful centre has been open now since fall 2006. I received my ECCE from Camosun College, Victoria in 2002.

What We Believe

Cherry Tree kids are easily recognized as they splash, sing and chatter on their frequent outings to park, beach and town centre. Leading this happy group is "teacher",who has played an important role in the lives of all the children and families whom have called Cherry Tree "their other home". Children who attend a child care do so usually for many hours. Some of the most important milestones in a persons life are developed and reached before they reach age six. Parents wish for their children a secure place to learn and grow, and desire that the experience be both loving and thoughtful. The first tenant at Cherry tree is respect, the second, ... cooperation.
Cherry Tree opened in 2006. The building was designed and built to fulfil a dream that Enma (teacher) had begun to form when she lived in Victoria and was completing her studies. Two years of thought and preparation went into its creation. The dream was to have a place where children could get the best care and early education possible. Enma knew that meant having a knowledge of how children grow and develop and recognizing the importance of play. Role modelling and interaction are the blocks children use to build their character and confidence. Navigating the early years adeptly prepares a child for the primary years, and gives them skills they will use for the rest of life.

What Parents Say

The centre is a beautiful and a safe learning environment for my child. Enma is very organized in her centre and is always thinking of new fun learning activities for the children. We are so fortunate to be able to send our daughter to Cherry Tree.

Every morning my child is welcomed with a warm embrace and everyday my child leaves by saying ‘I love you teacher.’ My child is loved, his mind is stimulated and from a young age, he is learning patience, respect and that being different is not only okay but it is admired. Thank you Enma for going above and beyond and making each day a magical experience.

Imagine a place that your child is excited to go to every morning.
Imagine a place where your child’s imagination is embraced and this uniqueness is celebrated.
Imagine a place where your child learns through the act of play and nature. Well, our family was lucky to find such a place at Cherry Tree.

The connection that our son Dylan had with Enma and all the Cherry Tree children was so natural and positive. Having wooden toys and cork flooring instead of plastic and carpet is always a wonderful environment for children with allergies. Enma had prepared Dylan with all the right tools for kindergarten. He has such a high level of reading and writing for his age. I believe she’s helped us so much in this process. All I can say is that, Enma is a beautiful, nurturing preschool teacher and your child is in the best environment possible.
